February ACP Chapter Meeting – What Risks Lurk in the Cloud?
February 15, 2019

The February meeting of the Colorado ACP chapter featured a very interesting and timely presentation by Mitchel Forney of Alpin, a start-up company in Boulder that is helping companies find and manage cloud software. Use of the cloud for Software as a Service (SaaS) applications, and for large and complex recovery services as well, has exploded over the past ten years. Mitchel discussed ways things can go badly in cloud world, and how you can prepare.

Alpin predicts that by 2022, over 80% of companies will be running on SaaS only. In addition, 54% of CIOs expect to use cloud software for mission critical applications and to double their total spend on cloud-based services from 22% to 44% over the next three years.

With this type of growth, SaaS applications – even small ones – can cause significant continuity problems.
