Topic: Use of drones within Emergency Response Environments
Speaker: Allen Bishop is currently the President, CEO and founder of Reference Technologies, Inc. located in Lafayette, Colorado. The business focus is the design, development, and production of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and ground based robotic systems for both military and commercial applications.
Mr. Bishop is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on communications interoperability and the introduction of UAS into Emergency Management. He has been a presenter at FEMA Region 8 Annual Risk Management meetings in Salt Lake City and the 2023 Colorado Emergency Management Conference.
Prior to Reference Technologies, Mr. Bishop was President at National Records Centers (NRC). In 1993, Mr. Bishop founded VisionTEK, Inc., which provided in-vehicle mobile software solutions to the law enforcement industry.
In addition to Mr. Bishop’s entrepreneurial endeavors, he is involved in several non-profit organizations including the Rocky Mountain chapter of the Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), UAS Colorado and the Boulder County Amateur Radio Emergency Services organization. He is a Reserve Volunteer with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office where he leads a technology team that provides both UAS live video surveillance and ground based robotics solutions to the County SWAT team and OEM. Mr. Bishop joined the Boulder Emergency Squad (BES) in 2017 as a technical rescuer and primary UAS pilot providing Search and Rescue aerial support as well as mapping and accident documentation.
Allen is also an USAF veteran, having an assignment to the Space and Missile Systems Organization (SAMSO) in support of satellite communications and space based surveillance systems.
