July ACP Chapter Meeting – We are not alone!

Picture
One significant incentive for belonging to ACP is the chance to interact with and learn from bona fide experts in our field. Howard Pierpont qualifies for that distinction! At the July meeting of the Colorado Rocky Mountain Chapter, Howard – a long-time member and a national expert and consultant – challenged us with this question: Does our group have the very best information about resources for the DR/BC industry? He then proceeded to answer that question with his presentation on many other sources available to businesses, organizations, communities, and even families. Here are just a few:
  • If your interest is in business and home safety, Howard points to a free toolkit from the Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS) to help you prepare for and respond to disaster events.
  • For those in the healthcare field, Howard highlights the resources from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
  • Professionals in the insurance industry can call upon the Insurance Information Institute.
  • Providing help following disaster events is the US Economic Development Agency.
  • For those needing training materials, Howard includes links to books for children and a simulation card game.

Our thanks to Howard for an excellent presentation!  He can be reached at the Institute of Preparedness and Resilience, Howard.Pierpont@Preparedness.org.
