ACP November Chapter Meeting
Electric Grid Resiliency

The November meeting of the CRMC-ACP was attended by members at the Oracle offices and also welcomed online viewers. Long-time member Dave Sayles presented a program of high interest and timely application: What do we need to know about our electric grid and those who are dedicated to ensuring we have continuous availability to electricity.

As Business Resiliency Manager at Tri-State Generation & Transmission, Dave is acutely aware of the types of threats facing his company and the many partners and agencies working together to keep our electricity flowing. While acknowledging that many outages can be caused by animals (especially squirrels!) he discussed the following threats that are analyzed, planned for, and addressed in response exercises: Severe Weather and Wildfires, Physical Attack, Cyber Attack, Electromagnetic Pulse, and Geomagnetic Disturbance.
